Fort William and Lochaber

Officially designated the "Outdoor Capital of The UK", this area includes Ben Nevis - Britain's highest peak, Aonach Mhor - with Britain's only cable car and a World Cup downhill mountain bike course and The Ice Factor in Kinlochleven - Britain's only indoor Ice Wall. It's certainly and area of extremes. As with the rest of the Highlands, visitors will be attracted by the walking, climbing, kayaking, water sports and many other outdoor activities on offer.

But the stunning and varied scenery is also a big draw for visitors, and you don't have to work to see it - it's everywhere. Travel the spectacular "Road to the Isles" - whether by car or the impressive West Highland Railway - to Mallaig and you're only just at the beginning of another adventure to the small Isles of Canna, Eigg, Rum and Muck or the remote Knoydart Peninsular. Ardnamurchan and Morven are another two sparseley inhabited "peninsulas" cut off by the large sea lochs that carve up so much of this region. Further south, Glen Coe boasts some of the most magestic picture postcard scenery to be seen in the Highlands.

However Long your stay here, you'll not run out of things to do.
